Join us on a virtual tour of issues regarding race, crime, justice, and reform as Dr. Robin Engel from the School of Criminal Justice interviews two prominent African American leaders from the Cincinnati community: The Honorable Judge John A. West (Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, retired) and Director S. Gregory Baker (Executive Director of Police Community Relations, retired). Judge West and Director Baker engage in an insightful conversation about their previous work, decades of experience, and current events. During this wide-ranging discussion, these three leaders converse openly about the realities surrounding police reform, prosecutorial and judicial discretion, specialty courts, grand juries, racial and ethnic disparities throughout the criminal justice system, violent crime, the needs of communities, and much more. Originally recorded for Dr. Engel’s CJ 1001 Introduction to Criminal Justice course, she now provides an opportunity for our entire University community to hear the wisdom from our local leaders, as they share their lived experiences.
